About Us
BeaverTooth is an independent forestry service contractor. The new startup was founded in March 2020 by Jason August (Band Member of Skw’lax te Secwépemcúl̓ecw). Jason has 10+ years, extensive experience working in timber harvesting operations as a Certified Hand Faller through the British Columbia Forest Safety Council (BCFSC). BeaverTooth is a SAFE certified company (BCFSC) and employs certified chainsaw operators, truck drivers, equipment operators, laborers, and administration staff. The company is focused on creating strong local partnerships that drive economic development within the Shuswap, Kootenay, Thompson Rivers, and Okanagan regions.
BeaverTooth sets itself apart from the competition as an Indigenous led venture providing high quality, environmental stewardship focused and cost-effective forest management services. Private companies and government branches within the forest sector are moving increasingly toward directing contract work towards Indigenous-led ventures in the spirit of First Nations reconciliation, which provides BeaverTooth a distinct advantage in the marketplace compared to similar non-Indigenous led companies.
